NEPSE index rises by double digits on first trading day of the week

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index witnessed a double-digit gain on the first trading day of the week.

Today, the NEPSE index surged by 19.56 points, closing at 2,698.03 points.

A total of 309 companies traded 20,984,440 shares in 96,282 transactions, amounting to a total turnover of Rs 9.47 billion.

Sectoral Performance:
While the mutual fund (-0.11%) and non-life insurance (-1.28%) indices declined, all other sectoral indices registered gains.

  • Finance led the gainers, rising by 4.94%.
  • Banking increased by 0.98%, development banks by 0.08%, and hotels & tourism by 1.95%.
  • Hydropower edged up by 0.36%, investment by 1.17%, life insurance by 0.39%, and manufacturing & processing by 0.20%.
  • Microfinance climbed 1.86%, trading by 0.25%, and the ‘others’ category by 0.38%.

Top Gainers & Losers:

  • Vin Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd., Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd., Janaki Finance Co. Ltd., and Nepal Finance Ltd. hit the upper circuit.
  • On the downside, Nyadi Hydropower Ltd. hit the lower circuit.

Most Active Stocks:

  • Highest turnover: NRN Infrastructure & Development Ltd. (Rs 335.47 million).
  • Most traded by volume: NIBL Stable Fund (711,384 shares).

The overall market sentiment remained positive, with most sectors closing in the green.
