KATHMANDU: A small plane crashed into a sugarcane field in Brazil’s southeastern Sao Paulo state on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of two people aboard.

The crash occurred in the rural town of Quadrahad, shortly after the aircraft took off from a nearby airfield.

Witnesses reported that the plane tried to make an emergency landing but exploded upon impact with the sugarcane plantation, as stated by a spokesperson from the local fire department.

This incident follows a similar crash on February 7, when a private jet collided with passenger buses on a busy avenue in Sao Paulo, killing both people onboard.

So far in 2025, Brazil has experienced seven aviation accidents, resulting in 12 fatalities, according to GloboNews.
