Leopard kills toddler in Bardiya

BARDIYA: A two-and-a-half-year-old boy was killed in a leopard attack at Bhat Chowk, Madhuban Municipality-9, on Saturday night.

The child, identified as Rihan, son of Rachana Chalaune from Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-5, had gone missing while playing in the courtyard.

Locals alerted the police, and after a search, his body was found around 9:30 PM.

According to police, the leopard is believed to have come from the Katarniyaghat Wildlife Sanctuary near the Nepal-India border.

DSP Rishiram Ghartimagar of the District Police Office confirmed the attack.

The child’s body has been sent to the district hospital for post-mortem.
