Woman jumps into pond with infant
After witnessing the incident, locals rescued the woman and child.
KATHMANDU: A woman jumped into a pond in Belbari, Morang, with her infant daughter, resulting in the child’s death while the mother was rescued.
On Friday evening, 22-year-old Preeti Yadav, wife of Gangaram Yadav from Belbari-9, Three Khutiya, leaped into the pond with her 6-month-old daughter, Kavya Yadav.
The child was rescued and rushed for treatment, but doctors declared her dead.
According to the police, Preeti, carrying her daughter, jumped into the pond of Pana Lal Chaudhary, about one kilometer north of her home.
After witnessing the incident, locals rescued the woman and child, sending them to the Birat Nursing Home and Biratnagar Hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, doctors declared the infant dead upon arrival at the hospital at around 8:30 PM.
The woman is in critical condition and receiving treatment in the ICU.
The Belbari Police have initiated further investigation into the incident.
