KATHMANDU: Pakistan’s former captain, Babar Azam, has overtaken India’s Virat Kohli to claim the top spot for the fastest 6,000 runs in ODI cricket.

Babar reached this milestone in just 123 innings during the final of the tri-nation series against New Zealand on Friday.

With this, he equaled the record held by South Africa’s Hashim Amla, who also achieved 6,000 runs in 123 innings.

In comparison, Kohli took 136 innings to reach the mark.

The Indian star has so far amassed 13,963 runs in 285 ODI innings.

At 30 years old, Babar has set another record—he holds the highest batting average (55.73) among players who reached 6,000 runs.

Previously, Australia’s Michael Bevan held this distinction with an average of 54.70.
