KATHMANDU: An Indian soldier remains missing after being thrown into the Trishuli River following a motorcycle accident along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section in Chitwan’s Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-5.

The incident occurred around 11:55 AM on Friday when 27-year-old Rohit Rana, a resident of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1, Ramapur, lost control of his Royal Enfield motorcycle (Bagmati Province 06-02 P 9204) while heading towards Kathmandu.

His motorcycle collided with a roadside divider, causing him to be ejected into the river.

Despite an extensive search operation, including divers from the Armed Police Force’s Disaster Management Training Center in Kurintar, Rana had not been found as of Friday evening. “We searched until 6 PM but could not locate him,” said Inspector Nirala Bhandari of the Muglin Area Police Office. “The search will resume on Saturday morning.”

Eyewitnesses, including fishermen near the accident site, reported seeing Rana plunge directly into the river from the steep roadside cliff, approximately 150 meters above the water.

His wallet, documents, clothes, and shoes were recovered from the scene, but there was no sign of his body.

Rana, originally from Chandreshwar VDC-3 in Lamjung, was currently residing in Bharatpur and serving in the Indian Army. Local residents immediately informed the police after witnessing the accident.

Search efforts will continue as authorities work to locate the missing soldier.
