KATHMANDU: Kamal Joshi, a permanent committee member of the student organization All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) affiliated with the CPN (UML), has been granted seven days of detention for investigation after allegedly assaulting police officers in Thamel, Kathmandu.
Joshi was arrested on Thursday evening in Baneshwor in connection with the assault charges.
He was presented to the Kathmandu District Administration Office for an extension of his detention period.
Kathmandu administration granted the police a seven-day detention order for further investigation under the charge of misconduct, as confirmed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Apilraj Bohara from the Kathmandu District Police Complex.
On Feb 6, Joshi, along with others, was involved in the assault of police officers stationed in front of Chhaya Center in Thamel.
The assault left police constable Nagen Raj Bisht and head constable Juglal Gharti injured.
