Baburam Bhattarai elected Chair of NSP (Naya Shakti)

KATHMANDU: Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has been elected as the chairman of Nepal Socialist Party (Naya Shakti), defeating his rival Netra Chapagain in the leadership race.

Although the official announcement is yet to be made, a press conference scheduled for 5 PM today will confirm Bhattarai’s victory.

According to party insiders, the newly elected office bearers and members will also take their oath of office later today.

The party’s general convention, which began on Sunday at Pragya Bhawan, concluded with the election of new leadership through a voting process.
