Singer Ram Krishna Dhakal announces film production

KATHMANDU: Renowned Nepali singer Ram Krishna Dhakal, who has lent his voice to over 4,000 songs, has announced his foray into film production.

Taking to social media on Wednesday, Dhakal officially revealed that he will be producing a movie titled Malati Mangale. The film was recently registered with the Film Development Board.

Dhakal shares a deep connection with the film industry. In 2001 (B.S. 2058), he acted in the movie Aashirbad, produced by his mentor Gopal Karmaacharya.

Reminiscing about the past, Dhakal stated that Aashirbad remains one of the most unforgettable moments of his life, as it was closely tied to his musical journey.

“Time flies so fast! It has already been 23 years since Aashirbad was released. Now, I am embarking on a new cinematic journey, but this time in a different role—as a producer,” Dhakal expressed in his announcement. Calling Malati Mangale a significant project, he added, “This film represents a big part of my dreams. I look forward to the support of all viewers, film lovers, well-wishers, and friends on this journey.”

The film will be produced under the Rani Music International Pvt. Ltd. banner. Praku Pandey (Prakash) will direct the movie, with Sagar Gyawali serving as the executive producer.
