KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population is set to conduct a month-long free screening campaign for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) throughout Falgun.

The initiative aims to identify NCDs early and raise public awareness about timely treatment.

Starting Falgun 1, individuals above 30 years of age can undergo free screenings for diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney-related diseases at local health centers. The screenings will also assess body mass index (BMI).

According to ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, around 14.09 million people in Nepal are above 30 years old.

“Health institutions at the local level will provide free screenings to everyone above 30. Our goal is to enhance public awareness regarding timely treatment,” Dr. Budhathoki stated.

The campaign follows the approval of the “One-Month NCD Screening Campaign Directive” by Health Minister Pradeep Paudel on Mangsir 16.

Additionally, the ministry plans to launch a cervical cancer screening campaign during Falgun.
