KATHMANDU: Bharatpur Hospital is set to launch a free shuttle bus service for patients and their relatives, starting Thursday, Feb 13.

According to the hospital’s Chief Medical Superintendent, Prof. Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, the bus will operate daily from 9 AM to 4 PM.

The 30-seater bus will facilitate easy transportation for patients and their families.

“This is the first time such a service is being introduced in Nepali hospitals,” Dr. Poudel stated.

The shuttle bus, previously used by the hospital’s nursing department, will now be repurposed for patient transport.

It will follow a designated route covering Bharatpur Hospital, Malpot Chowk (Bypass Road), District Administration Office Chowk, Hakim Chowk, Chaubiskothi, Birendra Campus Chowk, Bishal Chowk, and back to the hospital via Bypass Road.

Dr. Poudel noted that while the hospital has buses for staff, there was no dedicated transportation for patients and their families.

With Bharatpur Hospital serving patients from Chitwan and 18 other districts, many struggle to find timely transportation.

The new shuttle service aims to address this issue and provide much-needed convenience.
