Gandaki govt’s support benefits hundreds of cancer survivors
The province government has provided aid worth over Rs 23.5 million for cancer treatment.
GANDAKI: As many as 733 people have been benefitted from the cancer treatment aid programme of the Gandaki province government.

According to Health Minster Krishna Prasad Pathak, the province government has signed agreements with Bir Hospital Kathmandu, Patan Academy of Health Sciences, Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, Civil Servants Hospital and BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital Chitwan to expand cancer treatment support programme.
Likewise, blood has been provided free of cost in coordination with Nepal Red Cross, while laboratory tests of people under 10 years and above 60 years of age have also been made free of cost.
The province government also provides free treatment to women with uterus pro-lapse at the provincial level hospitals. Dialysis services have also been made free for kidney patients.
A total of 804 patients are availing the service from 15 government and private health facilities.
The Ministry of Health has also started a programme to ‘screen’ non-communicable diseases at the community level.
Health Minister Pathak informed that screening has begun in collaboration with the local governments for diagnosis of non-communicable diseases including blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and cancer.
