KATHMANDU: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, and Real Madrid registered crucial victories in the first leg of their Champions League playoffs on Wednesday.

Ousmane Dembélé was the star of the night, netting twice in the 45th and 66th minutes, while Vitinha opened the scoring with a penalty in the 21st minute.

The second leg will take place at PSG’s home on February 20.

In Italy, Juventus edged past Dutch side PSV Eindhoven with a 2-1 victory on home soil. The second leg between the two teams is set for February 20.

German club Borussia Dortmund also claimed a convincing 3-0 win over Portuguese club Sporting CP at Sporting’s home ground. The return leg will be held at Dortmund’s stadium on February 19.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid pulled off a dramatic 3-2 comeback win against Manchester City.

Despite trailing twice in the match, the Spanish giants turned the game around to claim a crucial first-leg victory.

The second-leg fixtures will be decisive in determining which teams advance in the competition.
