RSP MP Manish Jha calls for asset cleansing of political leaders

KATHMANDU: Manish Jha, a Member of Parliament from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has called for the asset cleansing of political party leaders.
Speaking during the zero hour of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Jha accused top political leaders of amassing vast wealth by exploiting the benefits of the multi-party system, despite their significant contributions in establishing it.
He raised questions about how leaders, who spent years in jail, were able to amass vast fortunes upon their release. “We respect their role in bringing the multi-party system, but how did they suddenly build their palaces after years in prison? Where did they do business? There were no businesses. Yet, within months of their release, their palaces began to emerge. Shouldn’t there be an investigation into this?” he asked.
Jha emphasized that while they were open to any investigations, there must be a focus on establishing good governance across the board.
He further urged the ruling party not to use numbers to dominate, but to operate based on principles.
