KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Anjani Shrestha has urged the government to address the rising threat posed by wild animals entering human settlements.
Speaking during the Zero Hour session of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Shrestha highlighted the increasing danger faced by residents near Chitwan National Park.
She stressed the urgent need to create a sustainable environment for wildlife within the forest itself.
“The lives of people living around Chitwan National Park are at risk. Tigers, rhinos, and other wild animals frequently wander into villages, making residents feel unsafe,” she said. “Is it due to overpopulation of wildlife, lack of food in the jungle, or inadequate habitat management? Whatever the reason, an immediate solution is needed.”
Shrestha also called for proper food management within the forest to prevent wild animals from straying into human settlements.
