KATHMANDU: A petition has been filed in the High Court against the President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane.
The petition seeks to have Lamichhane and others involved in the cooperative scam kept in custody.
The government filed the petition against the Kathmandu District Court’s decision to release Lamichhane on bail, claiming the order was flawed.
Shankar Khatri, Chief Public Prosecutor and Deputy Attorney General, confirmed that the petition was filed at the Patan High Court.
“The petition was filed on Monday requesting the annulment of the district court’s order and the continued detention of Lamichhane,” Khatri said.
Lamichhane had been granted bail by the district courts of Kaski, Kathmandu, Rupandehi, and Chitwan, and has been released after paying the stipulated bail amounts.
