KATHMANDU: Former Rastriya Panchayat member Nanimaiya Dahal has passed away at the age of 92.
She was undergoing treatment for pneumonia at Dirghayu Hospital in Kathmandu, where she breathed her last on Monday, former Gokarneshwar Municipality-6 Chair Ramesh Aryal confirmed.
Dahal rose to prominence during the Panchayat era after securing a landslide victory over Jogmehar Shrestha in the elections.
Known for her rebellious nature since childhood, she was elected as the Vice-Chairperson (Upapradhanpanch) in 2029 BS.
Her final rites will be performed today at Pashupati Aryaghat, according to family sources.
