Infrastructure Development Committee inspects fire-hit Water Ministry

KATHMANDU: The Infrastructure Development Committee of the House of Representatives inspected the fire-damaged office of Minister Pradip Yadav at the Ministry of Water Supply on Sunday.

Committee Chairperson Deepak Bahadur Singh, along with other members, visited the site to assess the damage and inspect the minister’s office.

Speaking to the media after the inspection, Singh confirmed that while no human casualties were reported, the fire caused significant financial losses.

“This incident highlights the importance of proactive safety measures. While documents remain unharmed, we must ensure that all government offices, including those within Singha Durbar, undergo rigorous wiring inspections. Preventive measures are necessary to avoid future disasters,” Singh stated.

He stressed the urgency of preparedness and called for immediate action to strengthen fire safety measures in government buildings.

The fire, which broke out at 8:45 AM on Saturday, burned three rooms of the ministry, causing damages worth over Rs 50 million, according to ministry officials.
