MP Aryal criticizes govt’s approach towards Rabi Lamichhane
Speaking at the House of Representatives on Friday, Aryal accused the government of taking a vindictive stance against Lamichhane.
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Dol Prasad Aryal has strongly objected to the government’s handling of his party’s president, Rabi Lamichhane, stating that even the Parliament has supported such an approach.
Speaking at the House of Representatives on Friday, Aryal accused the government of taking a vindictive stance against Lamichhane.
He warned that the government would have to pay the price for such retaliation against the leader of the fourth-largest party in the country.
“The government will certainly face consequences for its actions against a leader of the fourth-largest party. The public has already understood the government’s intent to falsely implicate him. The sovereign Parliament should not support such conduct,” Aryal asserted.
He also demanded the immediate reinstatement of Rabi Lamichhane’s parliamentary position, arguing that suspension is not applicable when an individual is not in custody.
“I urge the honorable Speaker to ensure the proper implementation of Rule 148 (3) of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079.
Since suspension is not applicable when an individual is not in custody, I call for the immediate reinstatement of Rabi Lamichhane’s parliamentary position,” he stated.
