KATHMANDU: Lawmakers in the House of Representatives today drew the government’s attention to the demands of Swargadwari Guthi victims, urging prompt action.
During the zero hour, MP Rekha Sharma emphasized that the absence of a proper guthi law has created difficulties for citizens.
She called on the government to address the grievances of the Swargadwari Guthi victims protesting at Maitighar.
MP Ashok Kumar Chaudhary also raised concerns about the plight of tenant farmers associated with the guthi, urging the government to take immediate action.
Similarly, MP Metmani Chaudhary criticized the government for ignoring the issue even after a week of protests, stating that many demonstrators have fallen ill.
Meanwhile, MP Nagina Yadav accused the Kathmandu Metropolitan City of harassing scrap traders unnecessarily. She demanded safety assurances for legally registered businesses.
MPs Chhabilal Bishwakarma and Prabhu Sah urged the government to investigate reports of Nepali citizens who died or went missing in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in India.
Likewise, MP Ammar Bahadur Rayamajhi highlighted the recent fire at Sandar Momo House in Kamalpokhari on Feb 6, which injured 11 workers.
He demanded a thorough investigation and free treatment for the injured.
MP Lekhnath Dahal raised concerns over delays in relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction for last October’s flood and landslide victims.
He also criticized the government for failing to repair the BP Highway.
