KATHMANDU: The installation of floodlights has begun at the Extradeck Oval Cricket Stadium in Rupandehi.
During a press conference on Friday, officials confirmed that the lights would be fully operational within a month.
The stadium, which was inaugurated on February 28 last year with the Legends Cup Cricket Tournament, has already hosted over 100 matches since its completion.
Director Binod Kunwar stated that the floodlights will enable night matches, enhancing the stadium’s appeal.
The venue has hosted Nepal’s U-19 Women’s World Cup team, Nepal Premier League’s Lumbini Lions, and several club-level teams from India.
Additionally, a dedicated net practice pitch is in its final phase of construction, while other infrastructure developments, including VIP seating, are progressing rapidly.
The stadium management also plans to accelerate the construction of the parapet.
