KATHMANDU: The parliamentary meeting of Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal (JSP-N) ended without a concrete decision on Thursday.
The meeting, held at Singha Durbar, failed to decide whether to support or oppose the ordinances introduced by the government.
While the ordinance is expected to pass easily in the House of Representatives, it faces challenges in the National Assembly.
As a result, the government has been seeking JSP-N’s support.
Despite being convened to decide on the matter, the meeting refrained from making any decision after the ordinance was removed from the parliamentary agenda for the day, said JSP-N Chief Whip Rekha Yadav.
According to her, the party’s task force submitted its study report on the ordinance to JSP-N Chairperson Upendra Yadav.
“The task force has submitted its study report on the ordinance to Chairperson Upendra Yadav. Since the ordinance was removed from the parliamentary agenda, we have postponed the meeting for another day. A decision will be made within a day or two. The identity of landless squatters must be established, and they should be allowed to settle in their respective places without being displaced,” she stated.
She further informed that the party will reconvene on the Feb 8 to decide whether to support or oppose the ordinance.
