KATHMANDU: The arguments in the case against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane have concluded from the prosecution and complainants’ side.

Lamichhane is facing allegations of embezzling funds from Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative Limited.

His defense has now begun, with senior advocate and former Attorney General Sushil Pant presenting arguments before the bench of Chitwan District Judge Dayaram Dhakal.

On Wednesday, District Attorney Ravi Neupane, Assistant District Attorneys Amrit Suvedi and Buddhabahadur Thapa, along with a lawyer representing the complainants, had put forth their arguments.

To further strengthen the prosecution, the Attorney General’s Office dispatched district attorneys from Bara, Parsa, and Dhading to Chitwan on Thursday.

District attorneys Shambhu Kumar Basnet (Bara), Bhola Nath Neupane (Parsa), and Dasharath Pangeny (Dhading) argued on behalf of the prosecution.

Additionally, senior advocates Dinesh Tripathi and Rajkumar Shrestha, along with lawyers Ramchandra Gautam, Sunita Adhikari, and Surendra Bhandari, represented the complainants in court.

With the prosecution and complainants concluding their arguments, Lamichhane’s defense team is now presenting its case.

, his lawyers have indicated that they will keep their arguments brief.

According to one of the defense lawyers, only one or two representatives will argue, as they believe the prosecution attempted to prolong the detention proceedings.

Once the defense arguments are completed, the prosecution will have an opportunity for a rebuttal.

If the rebuttal concludes today, the court is expected to deliver its ruling by the end of the day.
