Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte impeached by HoR

KATHMANDU: The Philippine House of Representatives impeached Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday after securing 215 signatures.

This surpasses the one-third threshold of the House membership required for impeachment, advancing the process to the Senate.

Under the constitution, the Senate holds the sole authority to try and decide all impeachment cases.

Senators will serve as judges, while the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court will preside over the proceedings.
