Gonzalo García’s injury-time winner sends Real Madrid to Copa del Rey semifinals

KATHMANDU: Real Madrid secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Leganés on Wednesday, booking their place in the Copa del Rey semifinals.

Luka Modrić and Endrick put Madrid 2-0 ahead within the first 25 minutes, but Leganés fought back, with Juan Cruz scoring twice—once from the penalty spot in the 39th minute and again in the 59th—to level the game.

Just as extra time loomed, Gonzalo García struck in the third minute of injury time, sealing a thrilling win for Madrid.

On Tuesday, Atlético Madrid thrashed Getafe 5-0 to reach the semifinals.

The remaining quarterfinals—Real Sociedad vs. Osasuna and Valencia vs. Barcelona—will be played on Thursday.
