RSP President Rabi Lamichhane appears at Chitwan District Court

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane appeared at the Chitwan District Court today to record his statement in connection with the Sahara Chitwan Cooperative fund misappropriation case.
He reached the court following a case registered against him on Tuesday.
According to Chitwan District Court Information Officer Amrit Bishwakarma, the process of recording Lamichhane’s statement has begun.
Following the statement, a detention hearing will be conducted, after which the judge will decide whether to release him on general date, grant bail, or remand him into custody.
Lamichhane faces charges of fraud under the Muluki Criminal Procedure Code, 2074 (Section 249, Sub-sections 1 and 2).
Cases related to organized crime have also been registered against him in Kaski, Kathmandu, and Rupandehi districts.
The Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative fraud case involves a total misappropriated amount of Rs 52.32 crore.
The current complaint demands compensation for Rs 38.09 crore, with an additional Rs 14.23 crore to be addressed through a supplementary case filing.
