Police open fire, arrest 2 Indian drug traffickers

KATHMANDU: Jhapa police arrested two Indian nationals involved in drug trafficking after opening fire in Kankai Municipality-4.
According to District Police Office spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Chand, the arrested individuals are 28-year-old Anzar Alam and his 19-year-old brother, Yusuf Alam, both from Digalbank, Bihar, India.
They were transporting drugs on a motorcycle (VR 37 AA 8498) when police attempted to stop them for inspection.
As they tried to flee, officers fired four warning shots before taking them into custody.
Anzar Alam sustained a gunshot wound below his knee and is undergoing treatment at Provincial Hospital, Bhadrapur.
Police recovered 63 milligrams of the banned drug brown sugar from their possession.
