Instant smart license: New directive eases process
Previously, only individuals traveling abroad were eligible for expedited license issuance.
KATHMANDU: The Department of Transport Management has introduced new guidelines allowing citizens to obtain a smart driving license immediately in cases of urgent need.
Previously, only individuals traveling abroad were eligible for expedited license issuance.
However, under the new directive, even those residing in Nepal can apply for a fast-track license if they can justify the urgency.
Applicants who submit a request specifying the necessity will receive their smart license within three days.
To implement this, the department has issued the Urgent Driving License Printing Guidelines 2081.
According to Director Ganeshman Singh Rai, individuals can apply either by visiting the department in person or through its official website, stating their reason for urgency.
