Triyuga Municipality Launches Nighttime Road Safety Campaign

KATHMANDU: Triyuga Municipality in Udaypur has initiated a “Bright City Campaign” to reduce nighttime traffic accidents.

According to the municipality, smart lights have been installed on electric poles in key market areas and intersections along the Madan Bhandari Highway, including Gaighat, Old Gaighat, and Asari Road.

Smart lights have also been set up in the main roads and intersections of Garun, Rajabas, and Chuhade areas in Ward 9.

Additionally, smart lights are being installed at busy locations and intersections in areas like Deuri, Bagaha, Motigada, Bhulke, Khajjanpur in Ward 5, 4, and 3, and Bokse area in Ward 10 along the Sagarmatha Road.

Municipality Chief, Basant Kumar Basnet, stated that the campaign was launched following a rise in traffic accidents in these areas, aiming to enhance visibility and reduce accidents.

The population of the municipality has grown from 56,000 in 2008 (Bikram Sambat 2065) to over 130,000, with more than 4,000 vehicles passing through the area daily.
