Arjun Ghimire: ‘Laaj Sharanam’ took four years to bring to life
The movie sheds light on the struggles of the people of Karnali while also portraying how the upper class exploits their hardships.
KATHMANDU: Actor Arjun Ghimire (Padey) revealed that their upcoming film Laaj Sharanam is the result of four years of hard work.
According to him, the story was conceived nearly four years ago, and the film has finally taken shape.
The movie sheds light on the struggles of the people of Karnali while also portraying how the upper class exploits their hardships.
Ghimire explained that Laaj Sharanam presents this narrative in a dark comedy format.
“We have used dark humor to deliver a serious story while keeping the audience entertained. Having spent years making people laugh through television series, we now aim to do the same through cinema,” he shared.
Despite a fresh storyline, Ghimire will be seen in his popular “Padey” character from Sakkigoni. He stated that audiences love this character, making it the right choice for the film.
In addition to playing a key role, Ghimire is also the executive producer of the movie, while Kumar Kattel (Jigri) serves as the writer and director.
With a well-received poster and teaser, the makers are confident that Laj Sharanam will captivate audiences.
The film stars Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus), Mukunda Shrestha, Mahesh Tripathi, Bijay Baral, Aparna Thapa, Renu Yogi, Kamal Mani Nepal, Mala Limbu, and the Sakkigoni team, including Arjun Ghimire (Pande), Sagar Lamsal (Bale), Harish Niroula (Krakroj), and Priyana Acharya (Munni).
Produced under the banner of JP Creations, Laj Sharanam is set to release on Fagun 14 (Maha Shivaratri).
Navin Shrestha is the lead producer, with Ram Naresh Shah and Srijana Khadka as co-producers.
The film’s cinematography is done by Sudip Baral.
