Yubraj Karki announces directorial debut with ‘Maan Ko Baandh’

KATHMANDU: Renowned production designer and executive producer, Yubraj Karki, has announced his directorial debut with the film ‘Maan Ko Baandh’.

On Monday, he officially revealed the movie’s title poster, marking the formal announcement of the project.

‘Maan Ko Baandh’ is being jointly produced by Shreet Films and Entertainment and Natraj Creations.

The names of the cast and technical team have not been disclosed yet.

Yubraj Karki, also the General Secretary of the Nepal Film Technicians Association, is a well-known and experienced production designer in the Nepali film industry.

He has worked as the production designer for films such as ‘Jatra’, ‘Shatru Gate’, ‘Dal Bhat Tarkari’, and ‘The Secret of Radha’.

Additionally, he served as the executive producer for the film ‘Ke Ghar Ke Dera’, which was released two years ago, and its sequel is currently in post-production.

‘Maan Ko Baadh’ is centered around themes of rural life struggles, economic inequality, marital disparity, social injustice, and violence.

Director Karki stated that the film will powerfully portray the courage and resilience of women.

The title ‘Maan Ko Baandh’ holds significant historical value in Nepali cinema as well.

In 2028, the then-Royal Nepal Film Corporation produced a film with the same name, which was released in 2030.

Directed by Prakash Thapa, the film starred Salyan KC and Sushma Shahi in lead roles.
