Newlywed woman murdered in Mahottari; husband on the run

KATHMANDU: A shocking case of murder has surfaced in Mahottari, where a 21-year-old woman was killed just two months after her marriage.

The victim, Khushbu Yadav from Gaushala Municipality-8, was found dead on Sunday.

According to the victim’s family, her husband, Abhishek Yadav, is responsible for the murder. Mahottari District Police Office DSP Santulal Jaiswal stated that Abhishek is currently on the run, and authorities are actively searching for him.

Police also suspect the involvement of other family members.

Khushbu’s body was discovered in the Bhisghari area of Gaushala-5. Authorities believe she was brutally killed with a sharp weapon.

“Her body was found in a bush some distance from her home,” DSP Jaiswal said. “Locals reported frequent disputes between the couple after their marriage, with dowry being a possible cause.”

Khushbu, daughter of Laxman Yadav from Samsi Rural Municipality-1, Parsadewad, was married to Abhishek, son of Chandeshwar Yadav from Gaushala-8, Belgachhi, on Mangsir 7.

Following a post-mortem, her body was handed over to her family.

Police investigations are ongoing.
