KATHMANDU: Nepal saw an increase in foreign tourist arrivals in January, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
A total of 79,991 international visitors entered the country during the month, up from 79,100 in the same period last year.
The recovery rate reached 98 percent compared to 2019, when 81,273 tourists arrived in January, said board director Mani Raj Lamichhane.
India, China, and the United States remained Nepal’s top tourist source markets for the month.
Tourism plays a vital role in Nepal’s economy, serving as a key source of foreign currency and employment.
In 2024, the country welcomed 1,147,567 foreign visitors.
