KATHMANDU: During the meeting of the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party, members demanded that the upcoming federal election be held before the local level elections.
On Friday, in the Lhotse Hall at the Parliament building, MPs called for necessary arrangements to ensure that the federal elections take place ahead of the local elections.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire confirmed that MPs strongly requested for the federal elections to be scheduled before the local level elections.
“We had initially planned to conclude the meeting today, but due to the long list of speakers, the meeting couldn’t be finished. The MPs have now finished speaking,” Ghimire said. “In today’s meeting, MPs forcefully called for the arrangement to hold the federal election before the local level election.”
He added that although the MPs had finished speaking, ministers and party officials still had comments to make, so a further meeting of the Parliamentary Party will take place on the 24th.
Ghimire also noted that during the meeting, MPs raised issues related to the government’s ordinance and development concerns in their respective constituencies.
Additionally, MPs from the concerned districts shared their views on the Pathibhara Cable Car project.
