KATHMANDU: The first phase of filming for director Saurabh Chaudhary’s upcoming movie Karma has been successfully completed.
The shoot, which began in the last week of Mangsir, was wrapped up in Dang and surrounding areas over 46 days.
The production team is now focused on Kathmandu, with the remaining scenes expected to be completed within the next 10 days, according to director Chaudhary.
Post-production work, including editing and VFX, is progressing alongside the shoot. “We are working tirelessly day and night. The filming will be completed in the next two weeks, and we will then accelerate post-production. So far, everything has gone smoothly without any obstacles,” Chaudhary stated.
Dismissing rumors of a delayed release, he assured, “We urge the audience not to believe false speculations. The work is progressing at full speed, and we are on track to release Karma on its scheduled date, Chaitra 29.”
The film stars Bipin Karki, Upasana Singh Thakuri, Mukun Bhusal, and Divyadev Panta in key roles.
This marks the first on-screen collaboration between Bipin and Upasana, while Mukun Bhusal will be seen in a negative role.
Details about the storyline remain undisclosed, and the full cast list has yet to be revealed.
However, director Chaudhary mentioned that additional cast members would be announced soon.
An action-drama, Karma is penned by Chaudhary himself, and it will showcase Bipin Karki in an action avatar for the first time. Produced under the banner of Artistic Entertainment, the film is backed by Basanta Lamsal.
Even before its filming commenced, Karma had already secured international distribution rights.
Seven Seas Cinema has acquired the overseas distribution rights.
Cinematography for the film is handled by Sanjay Lama. Karma marks Chaudhary’s third directorial venture, following Agastya: Chapter 1, which was well received by both critics and audiences.
Given the success of his previous work, Karma is generating high expectations.
Set for release on Chaitra 29, Karma aims to entertain audiences during the New Year celebrations.
