KATHMANDU: Hamas has released Israeli hostage Agam Berger on Thursday as part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement aimed at ending the Gaza war.
She was freed in accordance with the plan to release three Israeli and five Thai hostages on Thursday.
The remaining two Israelis and five Thai captives are also set to be released later today.
Berger, dressed in military attire, was handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross after Hamas fighters held a parade in Jabalia, northern Gaza. The Israeli military confirmed that she has returned to Israel and will be reunited with her family after an initial medical check-up.
Earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office had identified the three Israeli hostages to be released as Agam Berger, Arbel Yehud, and Gadi Moses.
Before the formal exchange ceremony at Jabalia refugee camp and Khan Younis, Hamas and its ally Islamic Jihad released a video showing Moses and Yehud embracing and smiling.
