Bharatpur Hospital introduces automated system for self-report collection
The hospital has installed a machine that enables patients to print their test results directly.
KATHMANDU: Chitwan’s Federal Bharatpur Hospital has introduced an automated system allowing patients to independently collect their laboratory and test reports.
The hospital has installed a machine that enables patients to print their test results directly.
According to the hospital’s information officer, Gopal Paudel, this system was implemented to eliminate long queues for report collection.
The machine, purchased for approximately seven lakh Nepali rupees, is now operational.
Engineer Chandramani Basyal explained that patients can print their reports by scanning the QR code on their bill, a system that has been successfully tested.
The machine can process up to three reports per minute, and the hospital plans to acquire another machine to further streamline the process.
The introduction of this technology is expected to reduce congestion in the laboratory report collection area.
The hospital provides a QR code along with the bill during sample collection, which patients can scan to retrieve and print their reports.
In addition, mobile users can scan the QR code on their phone to access their reports.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Krishna Prasad Paudel stated that the automated system was implemented due to increased patient volume.
He believes this new technology will significantly improve patient service and contribute to the hospital’s ongoing improvements.
Bharatpur Hospital currently serves over 2,000 outpatients daily, and additional infrastructure is being developed to further enhance service delivery.
New buildings, including a trauma center, infectious disease control building, cath lab, and nursing college, are under construction. Dr. Paudel is confident that these developments will make services more accessible for patients.
