Opposition parties reject government’s ordinance
They agreed to raise public interest issues collectively during the parliamentary session starting on Friday.
KATHMANDU: Opposition parties have decided to reject the ordinance introduced by the government.
The decision was made during a meeting of the opposition parties held at the parliamentary office of the main opposition party, the CPN (Maoist Centre), on Thursday.
After the meeting, Chief Whip of the Maoist Centre, Hitraj Pandey, informed the media that seven parties participated in the discussion.
They agreed to raise public interest issues collectively during the parliamentary session starting on Friday.
Pandey criticized the government’s method of introducing the ordinance, stating that it was brought through incorrect procedures.
He argued that the opposition parties concluded that the government’s decision to bring the ordinance when the Parliament was in session was a deliberate attempt to undermine proper legislative processes. He called it inappropriate and expressed the need to reject it.
Pandey also emphasized that the opposition parties had discussed key issues, including good governance and people’s livelihoods, and they are prepared to take serious action against the government, including street protests if necessary.
