American airlines jet collides mid-air with military helicopter in Washington DC

KATHMANDU: An American Airlines flight with 60 passengers and four crew members collided mid-air with a US Army helicopter near Washington DC, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed.
The accident occurred around 9 PM local time while the jet was approaching Runway 33 at Reagan Washington National Airport.
The aircraft crashed into the Potomac River, according to DC Fire and EMS.
US President Donald Trump said he was briefed on the “terrible accident” and praised emergency responders for their “incredible work.”
Authorities are investigating the incident.
