Barcelona held to draw by Atalanta in Champions League clash

KATHMANDU: Spanish club Barcelona was held to a 2-2 draw by Italian side Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

Playing at home, Barcelona took the lead through Lamine Yamal in the 47th minute.

However, Atalanta responded with a 67th-minute equalizer from Anderson.

Ronald Araújo restored Barcelona’s lead in the 72nd minute, but Mario Pašalić struck in the 79th minute to rescue a point for the visitors.

Despite the draw, Barcelona remains second in the group with 19 points from eight matches and has already secured a spot in the Round of 16. Liverpool tops the standings with 21 points.

Atalanta, with 15 points, sits in ninth place but has confirmed its place in the playoffs.
