KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to protest the suspension of its parliamentary leader, Rabi Lamichhane, over money laundering charges in the upcoming parliamentary session.

Following a parliamentary party meeting, RSP Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar told reporters that the government has politically targeted Lamichhane, violating House regulations. He stated that the party will strongly oppose this move in Parliament.

Pariyar further said that RSP will also protest the political vendetta against its president, issues in the cooperative sector and economy, imbalanced foreign policy, and the current power-sharing dynamics.

Additionally, the party plans to reject the government’s ordinances, accusing it of bypassing the House during the winter session.

While the party has no fundamental objection to the government’s new Securities Board concept, Pariyar criticized the move to restructure NEPSE in favor of vested interest groups by introducing a new stock exchange.

The RSP also condemned the recent clash between local authorities and residents in Taplejung over the proposed Pathibhara cable car project, calling it state repression.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Parliamentary Leader Biraj Bhakta Shrestha.

Rabi Lamichhane was suspended as an MP following fraud and money laundering allegations related to the cooperative scam.
