KATHMANDU: The preparation for the HPV vaccine campaign, which will start on Feb 4, has been completed in Koshi Province. The two-phase vaccination drive is set to conclude by Feb 16.

According to the Provincial Vaccine Coordination Committee, the campaign will be conducted following the National Immunization Program.

The goal is to vaccinate 220,584 girls aged 10 to 14 across the province.

Bharat Bhandari, the coordinator of the Health Directorate in Dhankuta, shared that this age group mainly comprises students in grades 7 to 10, with additional vaccination centers set up to ensure no one is left behind, including the 45,334 girls not currently attending school.

The initiative aims to protect women from cervical cancer, a major health risk.

Health Director Gyan Bahadur Basnet emphasized the importance of the vaccine in reducing the risk of cervical cancer, urging everyone to get vaccinated to prevent untimely deaths.

Dr. Radhika Thapaliya, Secretary of the Health Ministry in Koshi Province, assured that the vaccine would not cause any negative side effects and encouraged all eligible individuals to take it with confidence.
