Health Minister presents health insurance reform plan to PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Health Minister Pradeep Paudel has presented an action plan for improving health insurance to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The report, prepared under the leadership of Ministry’s Additional Secretary Dr. Deependra Raman Singh, was submitted to the Prime Minister today.

According to Minister Paudel’s secretariat, decisions regarding improvements in health insurance will be made through a Cabinet meeting based on the action plan.

Minister Paudel has previously stated that preparations are underway to increase health insurance coverage to five lakh.

The report presented to the Prime Minister also includes the foundation for raising the health insurance amount to five lakh.

If approved by the Cabinet, the Ministry plans to move forward with the process of amending the Health Insurance Act in the upcoming session of Parliament.
