Neymar’s departure from Al-Hilal & return to Santos
The 32-year-old forward is set to return to his boyhood club, Santos FC, in Brazil.
KATHMANDU: Brazilian football star Neymar Jr. has mutually agreed to terminate his contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal after an injury-plagued tenure.
The 32-year-old forward is set to return to his boyhood club, Santos FC, in Brazil, aiming to rejuvenate his career and secure a spot in the national team for the 2026 World Cup.
Neymar joined Al-Hilal in August 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain for a reported fee of €80 million.
However, his time in Saudi Arabia was marred by injuries, including a severe knee injury and subsequent hamstring issues, limiting him to just seven appearances and one goal.
Despite a lucrative contract, his performance fell short of expectations, leading to the mutual decision to part ways.
In his return to Santos, Neymar has signed a six-month contract, focusing on rebuilding his form and fitness.
This move is seen as a critical step in his attempt to rejuvenate his career, with hopes of a potential move in the summer.
