Police discover illicit drug, detain suspect in W. Afghanistan

ZARANJ, Afghanistan: Police have discovered 300 kg of illicit drug in west Afghanistan’s Nimroz province and apprehended an individual on the charge of smuggling the contraband out of the province, the provincial director for counter-narcotics department Mawlawi Faiz Mohammad Faizani said Tuesday.

Without providing more details, the official added that an investigation is underway to locate more people involved in the drug business.

Police arrested another man and discovered 30 kg of opium poppy in his possession in Khash Rod district of Nimroz province several days ago.
