BYD unveils world’s largest eco-friendly car carrier “BYD Shenzhen”
Built-in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, the 219-meter-long and 37.7-meter-wide ship was recently launched into the water.
KATHMANDU: BYD, a leading Chinese NEV manufacturer, has launched the “BYD Shenzhen,” the world’s largest roll-on/roll-off (RORO) car carrier.
With a massive capacity to transport 9,200 vehicles, the vessel marks a significant step in BYD’s commitment to sustainable transportation and global expansion.
Built-in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, the 219-meter-long and 37.7-meter-wide ship was recently launched into the water.
It features advanced LNG dual-fuel technology, BYD’s state-of-the-art battery packs, and a shaft generator, making it the most eco-friendly and efficient car carrier worldwide.
The “BYD Shenzhen” joins BYD’s growing fleet, which includes vessels like the “BYD Explorer No.1,” “BYD Hefei,” and “BYD Changzhou,” each with capacities ranging from 7,000 to 9,200 vehicles.
BYD plans to expand its fleet to eight ships by 2026 to meet increasing global demand.
In 2024, BYD exported over 417,000 electric vehicles—a 72% increase from the previous year.
