KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged by 24.50 points today, closing at 2,657.77 points.

A total of 325 companies saw the trade of 19,680,195 shares in 95,097 transactions, amounting to a turnover of Rs 9.4 billion.

All market sectors displayed a positive trend, with the development bank sector seeing the highest increase of 4.07%.

Other notable sectors included banking (up by 0.22%), finance (up by 1.88%), hotels and tourism (up by 0.68%), hydropower (up by 1.49%), and investment (up by 1%).

Other sectors like life insurance, manufacturing, microfinance, mutual funds, non-life insurance, trade, and miscellaneous also posted gains ranging from 0.12% to 1.74%.

Four companies experienced a 10% positive circuit breaker: Upakar Microfinance, Sikles Hydropower, Threestar Hydropower, and Janaki Finance.

The largest drop was seen in Dolti Power, which saw an 8.43% decline in its share price.

In terms of turnover, the highest trading volume was recorded by Sapta Koshi Bikas Bank, with shares worth Rs 382.13 million.

The most traded shares were from NIC Asia Growth Fund-2, with 103,033 shares changing hands.
