Present government is a strong basis for development and political stability, asserts PM Oli
PM Oli said development could not take place properly during the monarchy as the regime only focused on prolonging its rule whereas the pace of development works since democracy was different.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the present government formed in collaboration with the two big parties is a strong foundation for development and stability, freeing the country of the tendency to only focus on wrangling for power.
Inaugurating the newly-constructed administrative building at Katunje of Suryabinayak Municipality in Bhaktapur today, PM Oli said development could not take place properly during the monarchy as the regime only focused on prolonging its rule whereas the pace of development works since democracy was different.
“Now the process of development has moved ahead in Nepal. It is not true that whatever happens, there will be development. There is no development without a good system. There is no development unless the party capable of carrying out development works is in the government. Since the country is really in trouble, the government is leading ahead the development in collaboration with the two big parties by uniting the country,” he said.
Stating that for the detractors of the government there is no alternative to beating their chest and day dreaming of the government’s imminent fall, PM Oli said the Nepali Congress (NC) and the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) have resolved to provide stability to the country. “You can be sure of it.”
Prime Minister Oli made it clear that he has now got full support from the NC as per the previous agreement and the UML would extend full cooperation to the upcoming NC-led government.
Noting that the winter session of parliament would be given extensive work of law-making, he made it clear that the constitution would be amended soon if there was an agreement and it would take some time if there was no consensus.
“I have a cold. Antibiotics have made me a bit weak, but whenever people see me sneezing, then a photo of me sitting in the ICU room is posted. Whenever there is slight cough, photos of me in the ICU pop up (in the social sites),” he said in his comments to what he called the attempts being made to spread misinformation by making public the picture while he was in the ICU of the hospital when he was suffering from cold.
Prime Minister Oli also urged the people to get rid of the illusion of those who warned that in the name of opposing the government, the front of a limited number of people has been strengthened.
He expressed the belief that the new building would be utilized to serve the people more easily and with convenience, and the upcoming planned development would be made.
PM Oli urged the people to move ahead unitedly through democratic practices as the era of winning elections by keeping them under the shadow of terror is now over.
