KATHMANDU: The schedule for the parliamentary session beginning on Jan 31 has been finalized.

Key Dates and Agendas:
- Jan 31: Opening session of Parliament. All ordinances will be presented.
- Feb 4, 5, 6: Regular parliamentary sessions.
- Feb 7, 8, 9: Meetings of parliamentary committees.
- Feb 10, 11, 12: Further parliamentary sessions. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and other party leaders will address the House.
Chief Whip of the CPN-UML, Mahesh Bartaula, emphasized the importance of the session’s timely execution and noted that a calendar has been prepared for smooth proceedings.
Speaker’s Consultation:
After the meeting, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire highlighted that discussions focused on effectively managing time and defining roles for the session.
He noted, “Speaker Ghimire invited all chief whips to deliberate on the session’s schedule. Though not all were present, we thoroughly discussed the calendar and how to structure debates and activities.”
Opposition’s Stance:
CPN (Maoist Center) Chief Whip Hit Raj Pandey stressed the need for government accountability to Parliament.
He shared, “The schedule divides the week into three days for committee meetings and three days for House sessions. We feel the government must align itself more closely with parliamentary responsibilities.”
To finalize further details, the Business Advisory Committee has been called for a meeting at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
This session is expected to address critical national issues and streamline parliamentary procedures for the coming months.
