Winter session: PM & top leaders to address on the first day

KATHMANDU: The winter session of the Federal Parliament is set to commence on Jan 31, with a detailed schedule finalized during a meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula shared that the initial session will feature addresses by the Prime Minister and top leaders of all major parties.
Additionally, various ordinances introduced by the government will be tabled on the same day.
“The Prime Minister will deliver his address during the first session, followed by speeches from leaders of opposition and other political parties,” Bartaula said. Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire confirmed that a consensus has been reached to move forward according to the proposed schedule for the month.
Subsequent sessions will focus on discussing and deciding on the ordinances presented. The finalized schedule will be approved by the Business Advisory Committee meeting on Tuesday.
Bartaula also emphasized a shared commitment among ruling and opposition parties to pass key bills and pending legislation to ensure an impactful winter session. He reaffirmed efforts to enhance the effectiveness of the Parliament through constructive and active participation.
The meeting was also attended by Maoist Centre Chief Whip Hit Raj Pandey and Rastriya Swatantra Party Whip Nisha Dangi.
